The text is to be revised to more accurately reflect
the current state of geoconservation in Cornwall and to draw upon
the GAP for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly currently being produced.
The original leaflet has been widely distributed
and the display has been placed at national events such as the
UK RIGS Conference and the NAHMO international mining history
conference, as well as at local events such as the Cornish Eisteddfod
and the Royal Cornwall Show and in local museums, libraries and
visitor attractions. It is envisaged that the revamped display
and leaflet will continue to be used to raise the public awareness
of geoconservation in Cornwall.
A local consultant John Macadam, has been contracted
to carry out this work.
The Cornwall RIGS website was written by the RIGS
Committee and designed by a local company – uknetweb. Funding
was made available by English Nature from their Geological Conservation
Focus Group fund to support work with local geological groups.
The site was launched on 10th July 2004.
Funding from the “Exploring the Geodiversity
of Cornwall” Project has been earmarked to regularly update
the new site so that it includes the latest information on the
production of the GAP for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and
on the designation of new County Geology Sites.
